About
Nikki Leung is a Sydney based photographer who is passionate about studying animals and capturing their uniqueness in photos. Nikki started doing photography as a hobby in 2019, and within months got hooked on birdwatching and animal photography. She loves to spend time outdoors, connecting to and understanding the animals in their environment.
Nikki’s wildlife photography is guided by ethical birdwatching and ‘leave no trace’ practices. Her goal is to capture the personalities and uniqueness of the different animals with as minimal impact as possible, and trust from the animal is an important part of the process.
In her spare time, Nikki has also been a regular visitor to Taronga Zoo, Sydney, and has been regularly documenting what’s been going on in the chimpanzee troop (since 2019) and the Bolivian squirrel monkey troop (since 2020), studying their complex behaviours, their relationships, and how they change over time. Another interest is in animal communications and body language.
